The largest Italian festival on the West Coast, the 22nd annual Little Italy FIESTA!, will take over 12 blocks along India Street on Sunday.
The event pays tribute to San Diego’s Italian heritage and culture that created the iconic downtown neighborhood and features Italian food, al fresco dining, Italian music on three stages, a Sicilian flag procession, street stickball and bocce ball tournaments, Italian chalk and more.
“FESTA! is not only a celebration of Little Italy San Diego’s historic past, but also a time to recognize the hard work the Little Italy Association has put into making San Diego’s Little Italy a coveted neighborhood—transforming it into one of the top neighborhoods in the country,” said Marco Li Mandri, chief executive administrator of the Little Italy Association.
As many as 120,000 are expected between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9. Visitors are advised to ride the trolley, or park at the Aladdin Parking Garage at Kettner and Laurel and take a free shuttle.
Sunday’s event will take place along India Street from Grape Street to Ash Street. Since its founding in 1994, the celebration has grown from 10 vendors to 150.
