Motorists were warned Friday that especially heavy traffic is expected near Sleep Train Amphitheatre ahead of Friday night’s 5 Seconds of Summer concert and again Sunday as Dierks Bentley takes the stage.

Traffic congestion is expected from around 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. both days between southbound Interstate 805 and Main Street and on Main Street between Interstate 805 and the venue, police said. Concertgoers and other drivers will also have to contend with construction work on the freeway’s carpool lanes.

People headed to a destination near the venue were urged to use alternate routes, such as the South Bay Expressway to Otay Mesa Road, or southbound Interstate 5 to eastbound state Route 905, northbound I-805, then Main Street.
