The growing Civita community in Mission Valley plans a series of free summer concerts and movies for residents and visitors.

The line-up for “Sundown Sunday” concerts includes the country rock band Nancarrow on June 26, the Top 40 dance band Siren’s Crush on July 24, and world-music band Todo Mundo on August 28. The free concerts run from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Community members and the public are invited to bring picnics, beach chairs and blankets to the park at the corner of Civita Boulevard and Via Alta.

In addition to the concerts, Civita will screen family-friendly movies outdoors on the big screen on June 17, July 15 and August 19. The public is invited to bring a picnic and enjoy free popcorn. The “Film Friday” festivities start at 7 p.m. with movies beginning at 8 p.m. Titles will be announced on the Civita website the week before each movie.

Located on a former sand and gravel quarry, Civita is designed around a 20-acre neighborhood park and civic area, with a network of footpaths, bike paths, and vista parks.

Sudberry Properties’ plans for the 230-acre property call for up to 4,780 homes and apartments in numerous configurations, approximately 480,000 square feet for a lifestyle retail center and 420,000 square feet for an office and business campus.
