Addision was the only Sand Diego restaurant to make the 2015 list, though California boasted 16 restaurants. San Francisco led the Golden State with five of the top restaurants, followed by the Napa-Sonoma wine country with four. Los Angeles and Orange County each had two.
The ranking is based on the combined opinions of more than 5 million restaurant reviews submitted by OpenTable diners for more than 20,000 restaurants in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
OpenTable noted that established restaurants handily dominated the list with just three of the winners opened in the last year.
“Even as diners embrace a wide range of concepts from family-style meals to small plates, it’s clear that fine dining and multi-course tasting menus continue to dazzle,” said Caroline Potter, OpenTable chief dining officer. “This year’s winners are the restaurants that transcend fads, consistently put out delicious dishes, provide impeccable service, and pay attention to every detail to orchestrate one-of-a-kind experiences, time and again.”
