The popular Craft & Commerce restaurant in Little Italy will close this week for a multi-million dollar renovation into a new dual-concept eatery.

Owners CH Projects have taken over a neighboring space on the corner Kettner Boulevard and West Beech Street and will reopen the remodeled restaurant in early 2016.

While details of the new venture are being kept under wraps, the owners predicted it will “bring an exciting new element to the Little Italy neighborhood” with “two distinctly unique experiences under one roof.”

The remodeling comes as Jose “JoJo” Ruiz, formerly of Ironside Fish & Oyster, joins as executive chef. “I would consider whole animal butchery to be one of my strengths, and having spent the past few years working primarily with seafood, I’m excited at the opportunity to collaborate with local farms to source a variety of hearty proteins for Craft & Commerce’s new menu,” he said.

CH Projects’ restaurants include Fairweather, Rare Form, Ironside Fish & Oyster, Juice Saves, Polite Provisions, Soda & Swine, Craft & Commerce, Neighborhood, UnderBelly, Noble Experiment and the El Dorado Cocktail Lounge.
