Amy Lynn Kanner: Canon in D by Pachelbel

Award-winning harpist Amy Lynn Kanner will perform a free concert of classical and contemporary works Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor Center.

Kanner is a classically-trained musician of the harp, piano and violin, with a style seasoned by decades of experience. She began playing music at the young age of seven.

This developed into a passion that lead her to study classical guitar, renaissance lute and baroque recorder at Oberlin College in Ohio.

After graduating from college, Kanner began performing at a variety of venues, including the San Diego Libraries, the San Diego Museum of Art, the Scripps Green Hospital music series and the Del Mar Fair. Some of her favorite pieces to perform were compiled into her 1993 debut album, Garden of Delights.

Kanner is a graduate of the one-year International Harp Therapy program and a Certified Therapeutic Harp Practitioner. She often provides support to patients undergoing medical treatment by playing soothing music along their bedside. This in-depth experience with healing music lead to the inspiration of her second album, Music, Medicine, and the Magic of the Harp.

Mission Trails Regional Park has free concerts twice a month on designated Sundays as part of the Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation’s Concert Series.
