The 22nd annual San Diego Latino Film Festival is scheduled to open Thursday at the AMC Fashion Valley 18 theater.

More than 100 films will be screened over 10 days. They’re divided into showcases, including films from Mexico and Argentina, family films, documentaries, films made by women, and gay and lesbian-themed works.

The leadoff film, at 4 p.m., will be “Gueros,” a Mexican drama on a youngster sent to live with his college student brother.

Actors Kate del Castillo and Raul Mendez and comedian Adal Ramones are among numerous celebrities scheduled to appear on opening night. Actor Edward James Olmos is slated to attend Saturday.
