The La Jolla Music Society opens its 46th Season next week with Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Branford Marsalis and The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia.

A distinguished jazz artist, Marsalis regularly performs with classical ensembles, and for this special collaboration has transcribed selected Baroque works for saxophone. The performance will include masterpieces by Albinoni, Bach, Telemann, Purcell and other Baroque composers.

The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, founded in 1964, is a 33-member professional ensemble led by Music Director Dirk Brossé.

The concert is at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at MCASD Sherwood Auditorium on Friday, October 17 at 8 pm.
