A Wiz Khalifa concert scheduled for Saturday at Sleep Train Amphitheatre was cancelled as authorities continued to investigate Friday’s backstage shooting death at the artist’s concert in Mountain View, near San Francisco Bay.

The Chula Vista Police Department announced the concert — part of Wiz Khalifa’s “Under the Influence of Music” tour — was cancelled and would not be rescheduled.

A 38-year-old man was shot Friday night in the backstage area at the concert at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, and he died from his wounds at a hospital early Saturday morning, authorities said.

Live Nation, the company promoting the concert, said the event was cancelled due to the ongoing investigation of Friday’s shooting. The company said all tickets would be refunded at the point of purchase.

“Due to a situation out of our control, tonight’s UTIOM show is cancelled,” the musician tweeted about 3 p.m. Saturday. Minutes later he tweeted, “This was a senseless tragedy. Violence is never the answer. My prayers go out to the victim’s family.”

Khalifa was scheduled to perform Sunday in Irvine. The status of that concert was unknown.
