KSDS-FM Jazz 88.3, a nonprofit radio station located on the San Diego City College campus, was named the station of the year by JazzWeek magazine.

The station was awarded the same distinction two years ago.

“It’s an honor to be recognized for a second time by our loyal listeners and jazz industry leaders with this prestigious award,” said Jazz 88.3 FM Station Manager Mark DeBoskey. “Our programming staff works tirelessly to ensure that we consistently deliver top-notch programming. This truly is a team award.”

The San Diego station was voted the top station in a large market by JazzWeek’s subscribers. It was up against five other stations in New York, Portland, Denver, Miami and Detroit.

Additional 2014 winners in smaller markets were WWOZ in New Orleans and KCCK in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Founded in 1951, the San Diego station began programming jazz in 1973 and became San Diego’s only full-time jazz station in 1985.
