David and Lesley Cohn’s latest restaurant, a casual global-cuisine eatery and bar called OB Warehouse, opened this weekend in Ocean Beach.

The restaurant is located on the second floor of the former Portugalia building at 4839 Newport Avenue. The design by Philippe Beltran features an industrial atmosphere with re-purposed elements such as scrap metal, Victorian-era doors, and a complete 1965 Airstream trailer.

Chef Amiko Gubbins uses fresh California ingredients and utilizes flavor influences from around the world in dishes such as the savory Moroccan Spiced Rub Flat Iron with crushed potatoes, caramelized pearl onions, broccolini and kalamata olive vinaigrette, and the Hoisin Chicken Potstickers served with wilted pea tendrils and ginger scallion dipping sauce.

“This project has been a long time in the making, and we’re incredibly pleased to bring this fun, world-cuisine dining option to the area,” said David Cohn. “Ocean Beach is a vibrant community known for it’s character and originality, and we’ve created a menu and design that complements the neighborhood.”

Cohn Restaurant Group now owns and operates more than 21 restaurants in the San Diego area and two locations in Maui.
