The all-ages X Fest starts at 2 p.m. Friday at the Sleep Train Amphitheatre in Chula Vista. Headliners include Foster the People, 311, Panic! at the Disco, and Iration. Seating on the lawn is available. Tickets are $32.91.
Join guides from Birch Scripps Aquarium for late-night grunion runs at 10:30 p.m. Friday and 11 p.m. Saturday on La Jolla beaches. Tickets are $14 and $16, and must be purchased in advance either online or by calling 858-534-7336. The event is open to ages 6 and older. Children ages 6 to 13 must be accompanied by a ticketed adult.
The Barrio Art Crawl takes place from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday in the Barrio Logan Arts District. The free event offers visitors a look at murals, studios, galleries and local businesses featuring art, live music, food and vendors. Participants include Chicano Park, the Roots Factory, La Bodega Gallery & Studio, San Diego Taco Co., and others. All ages are welcome.
Learn about Marine aviation during Open Cockpit Days from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum at MCAS Miramar. Tour historic planes and sit in the cockpit like a fighter pilot. Follow these direction to get to the museum gate.
If the weekend is warm, you’ll enjoy a tall, cold one all the more at the Santee Street Fair & Craft Beer Festival from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Riverview and Town Center Parkways. The event features live music and entertainment, more than 300 vendors and food booths, carnival rides and craft beers from the best brewers in San Diego. Admission is free, but the beer is not! Organizers expect a crowd of 60,000 over two days. Free parking and shuttles are available.
The San Diego Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon runs through town Sunday, starting at 6:15 a.m. on 6th Avenue at Quince Street in Balboa Park and ending at little more than 26 miles later at the intersection of 13th and K streets in East Village. If you’re running–good luck to you! Boston Marathon champion Meb Keflezighi will set the pace in 1:30 half-marathon. If you’re cheering on a runner or just want to get in on the fun, there’s live music along the course, and a concert and awards at the finish line at Petco Park.
The FilmOut San Diego LGBT Film Festival will screen movies Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the North Park Theater. The international festival features the West Coast premier of a number of films, including Boy Meets Girl the U.S., Lilting from the U.K., and the graphic Floating Skyscrapers from Poland.
