A badly decomposed body was found on an embankment in Hillcrest and the body of an apparent homicide victim was found at an East County apartment complex on Thursday, authorities said.
The first body’s discovery off Sixth Avenue, near State Route 163, was reported shortly before 11 a.m., according to San Diego police.
The county Medical Examiner’s Office was called in to take custody of the remains for autopsy and identification purposes.
Patrol officers responding to a report of a person on the ground and not breathing in the 1400 block of Broadway in El Cajon found the dead man shortly before 1:30 p.m., according to police.
Preliminary evidence suggested the man, whose name was not immediately available, was a homicide victim, Sgt. Rich Alvernaz said.
A suspected cause of death was not immediately released.
