The Pacific Storm that moved through San Diego on Wednesday and Thursday exited the region with violent thundershowers that that brought minor flooding and caused power outages.
Rainfall up to 1.5 inches per hour was recorded in Imperial Beach, National City and Jamul, and flash flooding was reported in many areas of East County, including Alpine, Pine Valley, Campo and Cuyamaca Rancho State Park. Flood warnings were issued throughout the county shortly after 5 p.m.
Power outages left 3,400 customers without electricity in parts of downtown San Diego, Balboa Park, Coronado, Golden Hill, Lincoln Park, Logan Heights, Mountain View, North Island and Tijuana River Park.
A three-hour lightning warning was issued for the San Diego International Airport, and heavy flooding was reported on North Harbor Drive near Laurel Street.
Rainfall totals over the past two days were 3.05 inches in Chula Vista, 2.82 inches in Oceanside, 2.60 inches at the airport, 2.45 inches in Santee, 1.43 inches in Alpine, 1.16 inches in La Jolla and 1.05 inches in Encinitas.
The storm — the second to sweep through Southern California in a week — was expected to dissipate and move out of the region by daybreak Friday.
The National Weather Service forecasts a warming trend for the weekend, but another low-pressure system out of the Pacific northwest is due to deliver cooler temperatures and more chances of rain on Tuesday.
