A 30-year-old transient was arrested on suspicion he stabbed a man to death in Poway early Sunday, sheriff’s deputies said.

Kevin Talbott, a transient from the Poway area, matched the description of a possible suspect in the homicide, sheriff’s Lt. Rich Williams said.

Talbott was arrested Sunday and booked into the San Diego Central jail on a murder charge. Talbott was being held without bail.

Deputies responded to a 911 call of a stabbing at a 7-Eleven store in the 12000 block Pomerado Road just after 1:30 a.m., where they found a man with a “traumatic injury,” Williams said.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died. His name was withheld pending notification of kin.

Deputies asked anyone with information about the incident to call the Sheriff’s Department Homicide Detail at (858) 974-2321 / after hours at (858) 565-5200, or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
