Gusty Santa Ana winds will continue through Sunday throughout San Diego County from the mountains to the coast, with temperatures much higher than Saturday, followed by a chance for very light rain Sunday evening through Monday afternoon.
The National Weather Service’s San Diego office added that cooler weather is expected to return Monday and Tuesday before returning to fair and very warm weather from Wednesday into next weekend.
“Offshore flow continues this morning with Santa Ana winds gusting to as much a 67 mph in the wind-prone areas of the mountains and coastal foothills,” the NWS said early Sunday. “Many more locations are gusting in the 35-45 mph range.”
Any rainfall accumulations are not expected to exceed a tenth of an inch.
Temperatures on Monday will range from the 60s to the 70s west of the mountains and in the high deserts, and in the lower 80s in the low deserts. Thursday and Friday will be the warmest days this week, reaching the upper 80s to lower 90s in the inland valleys and the upper 90s in the low deserts, as much as 20 degrees above seasonal averages.
The return of onshore flow could also bring a return of marine layer low clouds and fog to the coastal areas and valleys for Monday night and Tuesday morning, then again from Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
