Due to strong winds and hazardous road conditions from Thursday’s storm, some districts have shut down campuses for all or part of the day.

The Julian Union, Julian Union High and Spencer Valley school districts will all close at noon due to the inclement weather.

That’s in addition to schools in the Mountain Empire Unified School District were closed Thursday for the safety of students and staff members, according to San Diego County Office of Education.

The closures took place amid a winter weather warning for Pine Valley and Alpine, which is set to continue until 10 a.m. Friday. Up to 5 inches of snow is forecast for elevations of 4,000 feet or more.

A wind advisory will be in effect until 10 p.m. Thursday for county deserts while coastal areas can expect between 0.5 and 0.7 inches of rain from the storm. Inland, up to an inch of rain could fall.
