Set to compete at this weekend’s FIE Foil Junior World Cup as the No. 6 junior fencer in the world, UC San Diego freshman Katherine Kim will represent the United States as the top-ranked American.

Held at the Diamond Hall in Bangkok, the competition will take place Dec. 14 and 15. The individual event leads off on Saturday, which features 156 entries in the women’s division. Team competition starts on Sunday. The U.S. is one of 16 countries aiming for the top spot.

Kim joined the Tritons this year. She fenced collegiately in September at the BladeRunner tournament where she finished in third place. Kim went 19-7 in November at the West Invitational, where the UC San Diego women’s team finished 6-3.
