
Fire crews put out a brush fire that burned an unknown number of acres Sunday near Mission Gorge Road, according to the Heartland Fire and Rescue Department.
A caller reported that flames were racing up a hill in Santee near westbound state Route 52 at 12:45 p.m., a Heartland fire dispatcher said.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze just before 2:30 p.m., the dispatcher said.
Thirteen units from Heartland fire stopped the blaze, he said.
