Wheatley replaces interim CEO Bill Geppert, who took the helm of the organization that helps the disabled maintain an active lifestyle when longtime CAF leader Virginia Tinley moved into a fundraising role last year.

“I’m excited and deeply appreciative for the opportunity to join an organization that is positively changing the lives of thousands of people around the world,” Wheatley said. “CAF has a great history, and I look forward to continue to support and execute its mission to help get individuals with physical challenges back into the game of life through sports and physical fitness.”

Wheatley spent 24 years with Sony Electronics, retiring as senior vice president. He also served for four years as co-director for the California chapter of the Washington, D.C.-based Lung Cancer Alliance nonprofit.
