San Diego Padres outfielder Matt Kemp — who played nine years for the Los Angeles Dodgers — went 2-4 with a double and three RBIs against his old team, but the Dodgers won 6-3 on opening day at Dodgers Stadium.

Dodgers shortstop Jimmy Rollins hit a three run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning off right hander Shawn Kelley—making his Padres debut—to help clinch the win for Los Angeles.

Right hander James Shields, who was also making his team debut, threw six innings and allowed two runs while striking out eight.

Kemp provided Shields with run support in the first inning with an RBI single off Dodgers left hander Clayton Kershaw, driving in outfielder Wil Myers.

He then added two more with a double in the fifth inning that scored shortstop Clint Barmes and catcher Derek Norris, who went 2-3 with a double in his team debut.

That would be the last run for the team as Dodgers scored four unanswered runs off the Padres bullpen.

Kelley (0-1) took the loss, while right hander Joel Peralta (1-0) grabbed the win and right hander Chris Hatcher (1) picked up  the save.

Right hander Tyson Ross will get the start for the Padres on Tuesday against right Zack Greinke for the Dodgers.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
