A 76-year-old pedestrian has died from her injuries after being hit by a car in San Marcos, authorities said Saturday.

The accident occurred around 9:10 p.m. Friday near the intersection of South Twin Oaks Valley Road and Shubin Lane, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

“A white Toyota Camry that was driven by a female driver was heading southbound on S. Twin Oaks Valley Road when she hit the 76-year-old pedestrian,” the department reported in a statement.

The victim was taken by paramedics to the Palomar Medical Center Trauma Unit for serious injuries, where she died shortly afterward.
