In the second episode of the San Diego Politics Show, presented by Times of San Diego, we dive into some of City Hall’s biggest fights and California’s biggest elections.
For this week’s extended interview, I talked to Chris Cate, the president and CEO of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce. His lobbying effort against a proposed tax on short-term vacation rentals helped kill the effort at a City Council committee. At the same time, the Chamber ended up in a dispute with labor groups over job postings on the Chamber’s website for a company that runs detention centers.
For the panel segment, show host Matt Strabone led a discussion with me and Sara Libby, the San Francisco Chronicle’s politics editor, on how the races for the 48th Congressional District and California governor are shaping up.
