Former San Diego City Council President Tony Young is no longer head of the local chapter of the American Red Cross, reports Voice of San Diego.

Young had been at the helm since he resigned from the council to take over at the chapter early last year. In a special election, Myrtle Cole was elected to take over his seat.

Recently he was named as one of the leaders of Mayor Kevin Faulconer’s transition team as he moved from the City Council to the city’s top job.

He told Voice, as the site shared via Twitter that his departure “is not a performance issue, It’s an opinion issue. There was a difference of opinion.”

Local board members were told of the change Thursday, Voice reported.
