Scroll through your LinkedIn feed and you can’t miss the #OpenToWork frames on peoples’ profile pictures. They’re omnipresent – and many are on pages of folks who aren’t newbies in the workforce.

With an older set of people looking for jobs, necessity is also the mother of reinvention

With an eye on the trend of pivoting your career, here comes Guy Kawasaki. He’ll take the stage at downtown’s UC San Diego Park & Market to share ideas from his new book “Wiser Guy: Life-Changing Revelations and Revisions from Tech’s Chief Evangelist.”

Kawasaki has been a big deal since he emerged as Apple’s leading evangelist in the 1980s. The New York Times bestselling author is now chief evangelist of Canva. These days, he talks about reinventing yourself and writing your story forward.

The keynote by Kawasaki, moderated by lead architect of UC Your Future Rebecca Smith, serves as the official launch of a Division of Extended Studies program. UC Your Future is for adults aged 45 to 65+ looking to explore new pathways, deepen their purpose and embrace the next phase of life with confidence.

It aims to be helpful for those transitioning into retirement, being laid off or transitioning to entrepreneurship.

The public can purchase tickets for Kawasaki’s presentation, which also serves as the kickoff for UC Your Future. Signing up for the program gets you two complimentary tickets to the keynote.

The event takes place on Feb. 23 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at UC San Diego Park & Market’s Guggenheim Theatre. Here’s more information on purchasing tickets.
