Even though the calendar says autumn, San Diego still feels like summer — which means it’s the perfect time to soak up the sunshine and get moving outdoors.

Whether you’re a runner, a walker or just someone who enjoys the local buzz, this is one of the best seasons to connect with the community.

If running is your thing, there are plenty of ways to lace up. Pacific Beach Run Club is one of the neighborhood’s fastest-growing groups, welcoming runners of all levels for free weekly meet-ups. They gather Wednesdays at 6 p.m. and Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. at 845 Garnet Ave. The vibe is social and supportive — no pressure, just new friends who love to run.

Another highlight on the calendar is the Pacific Beach Half Marathon & 5K, happening Oct. 4 and 5. If you’ve ever cheered or participated, you know it feels more like a block party than a race. Registration prices increase after Sunday, so sign up soon if you’re considering it!

We’re lucky to live in a place where outdoor activity never really has an off-season. Here’s to staying active, making friends and enjoying every mile by the beach.
