Good morning, San Diego.

Public restrooms are difficult to find in San Diego — no matter who you are.
But for gender non-conforming people, there’s an extra layer of difficulty, especially when the available bathrooms rarely provide gender-neutral options. This isn’t just an inconvenience, it can be a serious health hazard.
Our Drew Sitton speaks with multiple transgender folks who have developed lasting health issues resulting from their lack of access to public restrooms.
One urogynecologist at UCSD Health, who treats gender non-conforming patients with kidney, bladder and pelvic floor issues resulting from not using the bathroom enough, described said patients will ration water to avoid the restroom altogether in public, leading to additional complex health consequences.
San Diego likes the idea of Midway Rising: A new poll, commissioned by the developers of the project, shows that the majority of San Diegans — both inside and outside District 2 — support Midway Rising. But there was one key thing pollsters omitted in their description of the project to the survey respondents: its height.
