Hello, Point Loma and Ocean Beach!
You know what I love to do even more than riding my bike along the Sunset Cliffs? Drive my car along them with the windows down and some music bumping. The cascading sandstone glowing in the sun’s rays while the pacific ocean glimmers its spectacular blue makes for a cinematic drive every single time.
It’s hard to think of a better backdrop for Point Loma and Ocean Beach’s annual car show, The Sunset Cliffs Auto Show. The show is this Saturday, Sept. 12, at the intersection of Point Loma Avenue and Sunset Cliffs Boulevard from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Most of the showcase takes place in the Saint Peter’s Church parking lot and across the street in the lot next to the Sunset Cliffs Inn.
The event showcases nearly every type of road vehicle, including cars, trucks, motorcycles and even the OB staple, golf carts! While some of the vehicles are on display, others are entered into the running for the $1000 best vehicle in show prize.
The auto show also coincides with the return of the OB Community Foundation’s Pancake Breakfast, which takes place from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tickets for this event are $20 for adults and $12 for children under 12. All proceeds support OBCF’s giving programs and annual community holiday events like the OB Holiday Parade.
Even if you’re under 16 and can’t drive the cars, there’s fun to be had including a kids zone with Power Wheels races, a Hot Wheels derby and a three-point competition at the basketball hoop by the church.
