Hello, Uptown!
The San Diego Pride Parade through Hillcrest was shorter this year – but no less joyful – than in years past.
The military contingent was smaller, and fewer national companies took part.
Some LGBTQ+ serving nonprofits in the area centered their presence around advocating for rights of transgender people, which have been under fire. The LGBT Community Center led with a sign saying “Protect trans rights.”
Despite that backdrop, the atmosphere was full of energy. Reporter Drew Sitton was there and has the details.
