Hello, Uptown!

Once a year, the sun will align precisely at the right place above the Earth’s equator and signal the start of astronomical spring for the northern hemisphere, bringing us longer, warmer days. This event is called the Spring Equinox, which signals the change of the seasons as flowers begin to bloom, animals emerge from hibernation and people take the opportunity to reset.
Local coffee shop Maya Moon Collective is celebrating the occasion with a series of unique events this weekend that you can be a part of. This weekend, they are honoring the arrival of the Spring Equinox with 100% Ceremonial Ecuadorian Cacao, known for its “heart-opening” qualities with an intensely rich, earthy flavor and subtle floral notes.
Cacao Circle
Thursday, March 19 | 7 – 8:30 p.m.
Founder Kathryn Rogers will be present for a community cacao circle in a ceremony that welcomes spring, change and a chance for new beginnings. This event offers the opportunity to participate in a guided meditation for mental clarity and alignment with your intentions.
Aura Photographs and Mini Readings
Sunday, March 22 | noon – 4 p.m.
Aura photography is a visual practice that uses biofeedback technology to measure physiological responses, which are interpreted as a reflection of a person’s emotional and physical state. The result is a portrait that envelops the subject in a colorful, luminous halo that is the aura. This is a fascinating practice whether or not you are a spiritual person — or simply curious to try something new!
