Hello, Uptown!
Spring cleaning can go beyond throwing out extra clothes in your closet, donating books you bought and never read or finally replacing the old, discolored rug in your living room. It can also be an opportunity to help clean your neighborhood from trash, debris and other unidentifiable items decaying on the streets outside your favorite local coffee shop.
According to data obtained by the Office of the City Auditor, the average person in San Diego generates just about 6.4 pounds of waste per every day. Much of the trash not disposed of properly ends up in our streets and beaches instead.
This Sunday, April 19, South Park Business Group is hosting a “Clean-Up South Park” day. Volunteers will come together for a morning devoted to clearing neighborhood streets of trash, weeds and waste. Following the clean-up, all volunteers will receive a free lunch in gratitude for their time and effort.
Additionally, there will be a free e-waste collection, which means attendees can bring their old laptops, cables, phones and other electronics to be recycled or disposed of safely. Children are welcome to participate, so this could be a perfect community service activity for the entire family!
So, are you interested in making a difference in our neighborhood? Sign up here and happy Spring cleaning!
