Hello, Pacific and Mission Beach!

The days between Christmas and New Years always seem to blur: a mess of travel, detoxing from sugar and in desperate need of a vegetable, trying to refresh your home to welcome new energy, but simultaneously not knowing what day it is.

Beach towns have a special way of holding this in-between feeling. The mornings are quieter, the sunsets linger a little longer and the pace feels softer than it did just a week ago. You might catch neighbors out for long walks, holiday decorations slowly coming down or surfers squeezing in one last session before heading back to “real life.” It’s a pause that asks us to slow down and be present.

Before the calendar flips and routines snap back into place, this week is a gentle invitation to reflect. On the moments that surprised you this year. On the ones that grounded you. On the simple, local memories that made Pacific and Mission Beach feel like home — whether that was a spontaneous sunset stop, a familiar face at the coffee shop or a quiet evening by the water.

If you have any beach-side holiday memories you’d like to share, send me an email at beachandbayhost@gmail.com to be featured in the next newsletter!
