Over the past five years, Josh Schauert has turned a disappointing Halloween turnout into a South Park holiday institution. His free South Park Horror House now draws up to 800 visitors each night.
What started as a socially distanced outdoor experience for neighborhood kids has grown into a Hollywood-caliber production featuring custom-built props, programmed lighting effects, fog machines and animatronics.
Drop by 2962 Laurel Street any Friday or Saturday in October from 7-9 p.m. or on any night of Halloween week.
Another San Diegan making an outsized impact is singer-songwriter Dan Gindling, who is using his music to make a statement about what’s happening in our country.
Following the live recording of his anti-ICE song “We Are A Nation of Immigrants” at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach last month, Gindling will debut the completed music video on Thursday, Oct. 16, at Queen Bee’s in North Park.
