Good morning, San Diego.
Well, looks like we are getting a form of Schrödinger’s fees at Balboa Park – we both are and are not getting them. To put it another way, the City Council has approved the fees, but kicked the can down the road to 2026, so they can start up in earnest when we’ve all totally forgotten about them. Future me is in for a real shock, I suppose.
Speaking of parking vehicles where you shouldn’t, a San Diego man pleaded guilty yesterday to illegally landing a plane on a Navy airstrip on San Clemente Island, then stealing a Navy truck and using it to damage gates on the island – twice. You know what they say: One time is an accident, twice is starting to look like a habit. Well, maybe only I say that. At any rate, he’s in federal custody.
And it looks like Mario might be delivering some mid-week rain to San Diego. The tropical storm will start building by Wednesday evening and blow out again by Thursday night, leaving us with a cooler-than-average Friday, thank goodness.

Opinion: Senate Bill 79 isn’t needed to spur transit-oriented housing
SB 79 projects won’t be built near transit, but a mile or more from transit where developers can exploit unsophisticated single-family homeowners.
