Hello, Navajo and College Area!
Graduation at San Diego State University is right around the corner. Actually, it starts today.
For the class of 2026, SDSU is congratulating a record-breaking 13,600 graduates. As a result, the university added an extra day of ceremonies โ turning a three-day celebration into four โ and split the Fowler College of Business into two ceremonies. Now, business students are allotted seven tickets each โ as opposed to last yearโs four โ with students from other colleges getting six to eight.
Although Fowler is the largest of the universityโs eight total colleges, the largest ceremony this year will be for the College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts this Sunday at 9 a.m. (of which I happen to be a part).
If youโre not planning to graduate or attend, it might be best to avoid the SDSU campus area this weekend while the university holds its 10 ceremonies at Viejas Arena. However, you can always stream the ceremonies for free on the SDSU website, which might be a good idea if youโre hoping to catch the 8 a.m. Fowler graduation.
In just five years, SDSUโs spring graduate numbers have increased by around 25% โ and it doesnโt seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Last fall, SDSU received a record 123,000 applications.
