Good morning, San Diego.
A couple weeks ago County Supervisors, Paloma Aguirre and Terra Lawson-Remer, attempted to enter Otay Mesa Detention Center for a health inspection.
The local leaders say they were given prior authorization from local ICE authorities to inspect the facility. However, when they arrived the day of, they were denied entry.
Now, San Diego County is suing the federal government.
The main goal of the lawsuit is to keep federal authorities from obstructing state inspections, through a permanent injunction. We have more on the lawsuit here.
