The firehose of news shows no signs of slowing down — here, there and everywhere.

– The latest salvo in the Balboa Park paid parking wars came Monday, when mayors around the county held a press conference to announce they back a proposed ordinance that would permanently repeal the fees.

– A former Navy SEAL was convicted by a federal jury in New Mexico after he had reportedly planned to hijack a San Diego No Kings protest and shoot fireworks at law enforcement. Investigators found he possessed “violent and extremist” content.

– A panel of federal judges has upheld the new, voter-approved congressional maps. The maps could help Democrats nab up to five Congressional seats in the this year’s midterm elections.

That’s just a smattering of the smorgasbord of stories we have for you today, but that should get you caught up and give you an idea of the important stories of the week — so far.
