Good morning, San Diego.
In a disturbing development, ICE is continuing to arrest people as they appear for hearings in immigration court — exercising their rights to due process.
A private company taking over Coronado’s bonfire permitting says they aren’t here to criticize, but to collaborate. It speaks to a larger public funding issue that’s permeating the region. At the same time, more local entities are turning their focus to music and culture, showing a real hunger for public art and community works.
And a local eighth-grader has made it to the third round of the national spelling bee, bringing back memories of my own eighth-grade experience via La Mesa Middle School decades ago, when I washed out of regionals by misspelling the word “caucus.” It is a word I have never once forgotten to spell ever since, not even once.
