Hello, La Mesa!
Last Thursday, I joined hundreds of others at the monument unveiling for Officer Lauren Craven. Since its installation in 2010, the granite memorial outside the police station has had an empty side. Now it bears her name as the first La Mesa Police Department officer lost in the line of duty.
It was an emotional ceremony, one that LMPD leadership hoped to never have. Now the hope is that no new names will get added below Craven’s.
