Padres confirm sale to Feliciano and Jones group: ‘We are all in’

The Padres made it official on Saturday afternoon — they will be sold to an ownership group headed by Jose E. Feliciano and Kwanza Jones.

“This is about more than baseball,” the couple said in a statement, in which they vowed to the team and its fanbase that they are committed to “investing in community.”

The couple and their fellow investors had reportedly bid around $3.9 billion to purchase the team. The deal has yet to be approved by Major League Baseball.
