San Diego tries again on its Civic Center redevelopment dream, this time with Community College District’s help

It all starts with a memorandum of understanding at city hall, and that’s what the revitalization of Golden Hall just got.

Yesterday the city of San Diego and the San Diego Community College District, alongside the Prebys Foundation and Downtown Partnership, announced and signed the MOU. It’s part of a larger effort to breathe new life into the city’s civic center, which has been ongoing for years without much traction.

Granted, the players involved at the moment have no details, or even nebulous ideas to offer on how much the project will cost, what the scale will be, who is going to pay for it or how it will be managed. But, as our Drew Sitton points out, that’s what the MOU is for: to get started on making those decisions.
