Today’s newsletter is presented by Brian Barber & Donna DuPont of Coldwell Banker.
Hello, Point Loma and Ocean Beach!
We believe in local news. And to make sure we can sustain community journalism for years to come, we need a strong pipeline.
Internships play a key role in our mission to educate the next generation of journalists. That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce you to one of our summer interns.
Please meet Madeline Nguyen from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Arizona State University, who will write for the Peninsula Beacon.
Nguyen is a December graduate of ASU who is now pursuing a master’s in investigative journalism at the university’s Cronkite School. The Phoenix native has previously interned at The Arizona Republic, Fast Company and PHOENIX magazine, in addition to serving as a health disparities reporter at the Cronkite News bureau in Washington, D.C.
”There’s no better way to get to know a new city and call it home than local reporting,” Nguyen said. “I’m looking forward to covering – and uncovering – the stories that matter for all San Diegans.”
Find a collection of Nguyen’s stories here.
Have a story idea? Feel free to email Nguyen and Peninsula Beacon Editor Thomas Melville.
P.S. Please join me in congratulating Melville, who recently received a first-place award in the sports story category for nondaily reporting and writing for work he did in the Peninsula Beacon from the Society of Professional Journalists San Diego chapter.
