Today’s newsletter is presented by Best of Mission Times.
Good morning, San Diego.
Do you love wolves?
Do you have a dreadful ex you might like to (symbolically) toss to the wolves?
Do I have the Valentine’s Day activity for you!
The California Wolf Center up in Julian — San Diego County’s only wolf refuge — is doing something incredible for this year’s Valentine’s Day: for a $5 donation, you can get them to name a mouse after your worst ex and then watch as they munch them up.
I’m not joking. You can read more about this here and sign up to donate for a cause here. And it doesn’t really need to be an ex — just your least favorite human. I can think of at least 30 just off the top of my head myself.
So if you’re at a loss for Valentine’s activities, you can head on up to Julian this Saturday and donate to a good cause. Even if you come away with it feeling that it wasn’t particularly emotionally healthy or satisfying for you, the fact remains that it was very healthy and satisfying for the wolf that you just helped feed.

Just look at that sweet pup. Look how happy you made him.
If you’re in the market for a more traditional Valentine’s Day or don’t want to think about it at all, don’t worry! We’ve got you covered there, too. Here’s just a few examples: San Diegans are increasingly relying on nonprofits, a truck driver had what looks like an absolutely terrifying night, health care cuts are starting to really hit, and UCSD is getting criticized for taking DHS money.
But really, today is all about the wolves.
