Good morning, San Diego.

This week, many local families discovered that they would no longer be able to access gender-affirming care at Rady Children’s Hospital. The hospital announced on Tuesday that it would be ending its services for youths under 18 following pressure from the Trump administration.

The announcement comes amid hospitals making the same decision nationwide, after receiving letters from the federal government informing them of a proposed regulatory change.

I’m not a hospital administrator, so I can’t say anything informed about that decision.

I’m also not an elected official, so I can’t say what’s going to happen with Balboa Park’s paid parking plan. However, the pressure is continuing to build on the city to end its parking plan — or at least reconsider it. Please enjoy our very first story from one of our new interns, Mireya Miner.

But if you’d like to skip the news — understandably, because this has been a real week for the books — and get right to the fun stuff (i.e. stories about music, booze or the arts) you can find that here, here, or here

Enjoy!

Opinion: We’re not counting all of the homeless in San Diego County

San Diego should track homelessness year-round, not just one night for the Point-in-Time Count. Otherwise, we don’t know the true extent of homelessness.
