Hello, Point Loma and Ocean Beach!
For me, the best thing about living in Ocean Beach is the walkability of the community. I could spend a whole day running errands and grabbing food or coffee, without stepping foot in my car. I especially appreciate this when gas prices are as high as they have been.
Since our town is so walkable, there are an abundance of food options which might take a lifetime to taste them all. Lucky for me and you there’s an event coming up that lets us try over 30 restaurants in the Ocean Beach area in one night.
The Taste of Ocean Beach Restaurant Walk is next Tuesday, Oct. 20, from 5 to 9 p.m. and is put on by the Ocean Beach Community Foundation.
You would be wrong to assume that the walk would be confined to Newport Avenue — it also includes restaurants on Voltaire Street, Sunset Cliffs Boulevard, Bacon Street, and Niagara Avenue. A $45 ticket will reserve you a tasting card that grants you access to try all 30 restaurants, breweries and wine bars included along the walk.
And if the walking part is unappealing to you, they have trolley service to bring you to and fro whether you’re heading to the northern reaches of Voltaire Street at Northside Tavern or all the way down south at Chicken Over Rice on Sunset Cliffs Boulevard.
If you buy a ticket you can pick up your tasting card at one of the OBCF tents at Northside Tavern or The Plaza at OB Wonderland/OB Surf Lodge/Blue Water. The best part? All proceeds go to the OBCF charitable giving programs and annual community holiday events.
