Good morning, San Diego.

It’s a jam-packed day of news.

Mayor Todd Gloria’s proposed budget would protect police and fire services while cutting arts, parks, and libraries to close a $118 million shortfall. Here’s our budget rundown.

We’ve got a scoop on the sale of the Padres: the four potential ownership groups submitted their latest round of bids Tuesday, and the sales price is now nearing $3.5 billion, our Barry Bloom reports.

The plan to redevelop the Civic Center is inching along. Proponents released their most detailed outline yet, calling for the city to decide on relocating City Hall later this year, and creating a new joint government partnership to make the revitalization project happen.

Even legendary Padres closer Trevor Hoffman can’t believe what he’s seeing from Mason Miller, who is mowing down batters at an historic clip. Hoffman gave Bloom the inside scoop.

Our Drew Sitton also profiled Katy Lynch, an openly LGBTQ+ police officer in La Mesa whose name will now sit alongside two “giants” who she’s always looked up to.

Elsewhere, a pro bono dental clinic is seeking volunteers, Hillcrest has unfurled more than a hundred Pride flags throughout its community and our partners at Capital & Main report ICE has arrested dozens of delivery drivers at the gate of a San Diego military base.
