Hello, Uptown!

It’s been just over a year since construction began in Hillcrest as part of a $28 million project called the “Pride Promenade,” initiated by the Hillcrest Business Association.

The community space seeks to become a center of activity for the neighborhood by hosting an array of events, including farmer’s markets, weddings and demonstrations.

While nearby shops and restaurants have struggled amid construction, business owners hope that the Pride Promenade will increase activity once the space is open. In addition to events and activities, the space is meant to highlight the neighborhood’s artists by showcasing interactive and public art pieces.

The Pride Promenade will include a children’s playground, bike and pedestrian paths, 115 newly planted trees, cafe-style seating areas and parking so visitors can come in from all over the city to enjoy the new space. It will be a significant park and outdoor space for the Hillcrest neighborhood.
