Hello, Beach and Bay!
If you live near the beach without a dedicated parking space, you’re probably familiar with the struggle of finding street parking.
There’s nothing like circling the block when you’re desperate to unload groceries, only to end up parking a block away or more. Don’t get me started on drivers who park feet away from the edge of the curb, minimizing the amount of available space.
Street parking only becomes more difficult as people flood the beaches for the summer season. If you’ve ever been frustrated by the parking circumstances, the Pacific Beach Planning Group wants to hear from you. The group is conducting a survey to build a data-driven picture of residential parking patterns and problems affecting beach residents.
This is the second survey the group has put out, because the first one didn’t generate enough responses. The data will inform conversations about future developments and the likely impact on parking. As more multi-unit apartment buildings go up, parking could become even more scarce.
Pacific Beach residents can take the survey online at pbplanning.org through Feb. 25, 2027. Add your voice and help make parking better for everyone. A few tips while you’re at it: Pull up to the edge of the curb every time, don’t leave your car for more than 72 hours and be considerate of your neighbors. We’re all in this together.
