Hello, La Mesa!
The biggest weekend in La Mesa is here! Beer means nothing to me, but I won’t say no to a huge street fair, even amid the extreme heat.
We have lots of helpful info to guide you through the massive event, including the schedule.
I enjoyed reading Karen Pearlman’s preview of the game area, which this year has a new event where humans must hold a plank with a dachshund plushie on their back. There’s also a bratwurst tossing contest. The weiner dogs have several contests of their own, including a race and fashion show.
This event is a big deal for the city, bringing in 42,000 out-of-town visitors. But for locals too, it’s a tradition that generations have taken part in. I look forward to seeing you there!
P.S. I still recommend taking the trolley to get there! Construction on affordable housing started at Spring Street Trolley Station so there is less available parking if you want to park and ride. Grossmont Center station still has a covered garage though and is just as close.
