Fresh fish! You can’t travel a much shorter “sea-to-table-to-mouth” route than the 4th annual Dockside Night Market. Seafood meals made from delicacies just plucked from the ocean are sold right off boats that pull up at Tuna Harbor Pier (598 Harbor Drive) in downtown’s Marina District.
Chefs from some of San Diego’s best restaurants will be cooking right there on the pier. Organized by the Puffer Malarkey Collective, participating restaurants include downtown’s Callie, Herb & Wood, Animae and The Lion’s Share.
How fresh will these meals be? So fresh, nobody will know everything on the menu until the boats come back with the catches of the day.
Not exactly sure where Tuna Harbor Pier is? It’s on the San Diego Bay along the western side of Seaport Village. Nearly across the Embarcadero from Mike Hess Brewing. It’s the pier where throngs line up every weekend for the Saturday Tuna Harbor Dockside Market. The market opens at 8 a.m. and closes when all the seafood is sold out (usually before 1 p.m.).
At the Night Market, attendees will stroll the pier with their own catch of the night and get to chat with the folks that make up the backbone of San Diego’s fishing industry. In fact, the event is a fundraiser for the San Diego Fisherman’s Working Group.
The pier party takes place Aug. 6, from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $100. Want to be a VIP? Those tix are $150, which gets you early entrance at 6 p.m.
